Introduction

Dr. Jacobs graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz with honors. He was awarded a Navy Health Professions Scholarship to attend medical school at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Upon graduation, he was commissioned Lieutenant in the Navy Medical Corps. After internship at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, Dr. Jacobs was assigned to the First Marine Division as a Navy general medical officer. Recognizing his passion for the “mind-body” relationship to wellness, Dr. Jacobs subsequently returned to NMCSD to complete a psychiatry residency.  Recognized for his leadership and clinical skill, he was selected as the Chief Resident.

Dr. Jacobs has continued his training with the Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis and the Southern California Society for Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy.

Dr. Jacobs’ professional experience as a psychiatrist encompasses a variety of military, public and private settings. He has contributed to the development of new therapies as an industry consultant and a clinical researcher.  Dr. Jacobs holds an appointment as clinical faculty to UCSD.

Dr. Jacobs is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been designated as a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He has maintained an unrestricted California medical license since 1994.
